General Science (64)

This test is the redeveloped General Science test. Registration is now open for testing starting August 22, 2022.

Score Delay Notice: Score reports will be delayed for General Science (64) due to standard-setting activities and determination of qualifying scores by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Scores will be released upon the completion of these activities.

MTEL-Flex General Science will become available to candidates after the redeveloped General Science (64) test becomes operational, qualifying scores are set by the Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, and scores are reported to candidates.

To be eligible for MTEL-Flex General Science, you must meet the following requirements:

You took and did not pass General Science (64).
Your score on the General Science (64) test is within one standard error of measurement of the passing score. (This score range will be posted on the MTEL-Flex General Science assessment page.)

Format

Computer-based test (CBT); 100 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-response assignments

Time

4 hours and 15 minutes total appointment time

15 minutes for CBT tutorial and nondisclosure agreement
4 hours testing time
