The MoGEA Reading Comprehension and Interpretation subtest and Writing subtest are retiring. The last day to register is 7/4/2026, and the last day to test is 7/5/2026. See the Communication and Literacy Skills and Essential Academic Skills test pages for alternatives to this retiring test.
The MoGEA assessment for MTEL remains available to Massachusetts candidates via online proctoring through the end of the regulatory pilot on June 30, 2025.
The MoGEA Reading Comprehension and Interpretation subtest and Writing subtest have been adopted by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. These subtests can be taken as an alternative to the Communication and Literacy Skills test in order to fulfill licensure requirements.
