Alternative Testing Options for the Communication and Literacy Skills Test
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved the use of additional tests as alternative assessments to the Communication and Literacy Skills test. Click the name of each assessment option in the table below to learn more about each test.

* Candidates must pass both subtests of the same Communication and Literacy Skills alternative assessment to meet the Communication and Literacy Skills testing requirement for licensure.
**If online proctoring is not an option for you or you would prefer to test at a test center, you may take the Communication and Literacy Skills subtests OR Essential Academic Skills subtests to meet the Communication and Literacy Skills testing requirement for licensure.
