Test Dates

Refer to the following table for information about registration options and deadlines for each paper-based test session. Not all tests are available on all test dates; refer to "Test Selection" for test availability.

You may make a request for alternative testing arrangements when you register for the MTEL during the regular, late, or emergency registration period. To ensure that there is adequate time to process your request, you are strongly encouraged to register and submit all required information as early as possible, preferably by the regular registration deadline. Refer to "Registering for Alternative Testing Arrangements" for further information.
Internet Registration All registration periods. To register on the Internet, your registration must be completed by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the registration deadline for the period.
U.S. Mail Registration Regular and late registration periods only. To register by mail during the regular registration period, your registration materials must be postmarked by the regular registration deadline. During the late registration period, your registration materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the late registration deadline.
Telephone Registration Emergency registration period only. To register by telephone, call (413) 256-2892 or (866) 565-4894, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday–Friday, excluding the following holidays: September 3, 2012, and July 4, 2013. Emergency registration ends at 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the last day of the emergency registration period.
The telephone reregistration service is available during the regular and late reregistration periods only. See below for telephone reregistration information and the reregistration schedule.
* Note that the score report date for the September 22, 2012, test session falls on the late registration deadline for the November 17, 2012, test session. Therefore, the emergency registration fee will be waived for candidates who register during the emergency registration period to retake the same test(s) at the November test session. See "Test Fees and Payment Policies" for more information. ** Note that the score report dates for the March 2, 2013, and May 11, 2013, test sessions fall during the late registration periods for the May 11, 2013, and July 13, 2013, test sessions, respectively. Therefore, the late registration fee will be waived for candidates who register during the late registration period to retake the same test(s) at the May or July test session. See "Test Fees and Payment Policies" for more information. *** Note that most test centers will not be air-conditioned during the summer months.

2012–2013 Telephone Reregistration Schedule

For candidates who have registered for the MTEL before, the telephone reregistration service is available for paper-based tests at (413) 256-2892 or (866) 565-4894 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding the following holidays:

• January 21, 2013
• May 27, 2013

Telephone reregistration must be completed by the candidate who is registering for the licensure test. Before you call, review the "Registration Checklist" to ensure that you have all the information that you need to register.

If you register by telephone, you must pay the test fees using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard only) or a debit or check card that carries the VISA or MasterCard logo and that can be used without the entry of a personal identification number (PIN). Bank cards without a VISA or MasterCard logo cannot be accepted.

After you complete your telephone registration, any changes must be submitted on the Internet by the late registration deadline of the test date for which you are registered or the new test date you are requesting, whichever is earlier. See "Changing Your Registration" for information about how to submit a registration modification request.
