Refer to the following table for information about registration options and deadlines for each test administration. Not all tests are available on all test dates; refer to "Test Selection" for test availability.

Five additional test dates will be offered for the Communication and Literacy Skills test only. For these additional administrations, sites will be available in the Boston and Springfield areas only. There will be an additional fee for these test dates; see "Test Fees and Payment Policies" for more information. Fee waivers associated with testing on consecutive test dates will not apply to the additional test dates for the Communication and Literacy Skills test.

The 2008–2009 test dates below are provided for your information. Registration for these dates will open during the summer of 2008. Not all tests are available on all test dates; refer to "Test Selection" for test availability.

You may make a request for alternative testing arrangements when you register for the MTEL during the regular, late, or emergency registration period. To ensure that there is adequate time to process your request, you are strongly encouraged to register and submit all required information as early as possible, preferably by the regular registration deadline.
Internet Registration All registration periods. To register on the Internet, your registration must be completed by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the registration deadline for the period.
U.S. Mail Registration Regular and late registration periods only. To register by mail during the regular registration period, your registration materials must be postmarked by the regular registration deadline. During the late registration period, your registration materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the late registration deadline.
Telephone Registration Emergency registration period only. To register by telephone, call NES at (413) 256-2892 or (866) 565-4894, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday–Friday, excluding holidays. Emergency registration ends at 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the last day of the emergency registration period.
The telephone reregistration service is available during the regular and late reregistration periods only. See below for telephone reregistration information and the reregistration schedule.

*Scores for the General Curriculum test (03) administered at the March 7, 2009, test administration will be available after passing scores have been approved.
**Please note that telephone reregistration during the regular registration period for the January 10, 2009, test date will close on November 26, 2008.

2007–2008 Telephone Reregistration Schedule

For candidates who have registered for the MTEL before, the telephone reregistration service is available at ( 413) 256-2892 or (866) 565-4894 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Telephone reregistration must be completed by the candidate who is registering for the licensure test. Before you call, complete the "Registration Checklist" at the beginning of this section.

If you register by telephone, you must pay the test fees using a credit card (MasterCard or VISA only) or a debit or check card that carries the MasterCard or VISA logo and that can be used without the entry of a personal identification number (PIN). Bank cards without a MasterCard or VISA logo cannot be accepted.

After you complete your telephone registration, any changes must be submitted (on the Internet or by U.S. mail) by the late registration deadline of the test date for which you are registered or the new test date you are requesting, whichever is earlier. See "Changing Your Registration " for information about how to submit a registration modification request.
